Radio Duran

For a band with only ten shows on the books, Radio Duran, Houston’s tribute to Duran Duran, has racked up some pretty major shows, including opening for national touring act, and fellow Houston tribute, Boys Don’t Cry at the House of Blues Houston, 80s sensation The Tubes at Warehouse Live, and most recently, The Fixx, again at Warehouse Live. The guys in RD send their sincere thanks to the “everyone that came to see us, all of the Fixx fans who welcomed us warmly, and to The Fixx themselves for being the nicest, funniest chaps to share a stage with.

On a related note, Radio Duran weren’t the only ones with dreams coming true that night.  Sally Villareal, lead vocalist for Blond-ish (Blondie) and The Ruxpins (80s tribute), and Michael Villegas, lead vocalist for ‘Lectric Eye (David Bowie), both talented photographers as well as musicians, were working the pit that night and photographing the acts. Michael revealed that after seeing The Fixx in the 80s, he was so blown away by them that he decided on the spot to become a musician! Looks like we owe the guys in The Fixx big props for creating one of the best front men on the Houston music scene!
